Hundreds of tourism insiders gathered at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas for the Caribbean market opening 30th annual edition.
Organized by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (ACCC), the event is the meeting point for pre-eminent hotels, tour operators and area attractions.
Sponsored by the World Travel Group, the Jamboree this year welcomed the delegations of Jamaica Tourist Board, Bermuda Department of Tourism and the Tourist Office of Aruba, among many others.
Opening Ceremony
Opening the event in 2012 CHTA President Josef Forstmayr reminded delegates of tourism were “vital” for the further development of the Caribbean.
“Every dollar spent on tourism in the region increases at every level of society in the Caribbean,” he said at the opening ceremony.
However, Forstmayr also argued there is still much to do, citing “outrageous” the ticket prices for flights to the region as a source of concern to the attack “bureaucratic indulgences” to prevent inter-Caribbean, tourism.

Hubert Ingram, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, also spoke, calling the last two years of economic difficulties have had an opportunity for the country.
“This year will mark the beginning of the recovery, the inevitable return to growth,” he said.
“We started a major upgrade and expansion of our history.”
Airport terminals, roads and development of improved technology infrastructure were some of the progress made in the Bahamas, he told delegates.
